Bastion Cage, also known by the brand Bastions Cages, is the artistic persona of Christian Rutherford, an American independent musician, producer, and community advocate from California. Known for bold, dark, and cinematic music, Rutherford launched the Bastion Cage identity in 2013 as a larger-than-life creative platform under his company Rutherford Productions.

Early life and education

Rutherford was raised in Crescent City, California, until the age of nine, after which his family moved to Porterville in California's Central Valley. The move and the community values of Porterville heavily influenced his work ethic and creative drive.

He attended Porterville High School, where he played football as a left guard and left tackle and participated in the drama program. In 2005, he graduated from San Joaquin Valley College (SJVC) with training in business.

Career

Rutherford Productions

In 2008, Rutherford founded Rutherford Productions, a creative business that initially included home repair services in Porterville (operated for 14 years). The company serves as the central engine for his music, media, and collaborative projects.

Bastion Cage and Bastions Cages

In 2013, Rutherford created the Bastion Cage persona as a bold, larger-than-life identity for music and social platforms. It later evolved into the full visual and artistic brand Bastions Cages, characterized by dark, powerful, and cinematic soundscapes designed to make an impact.

His music is independently released through DistroKid and appears on major platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and Amazon Music. Releases often take the form of singles and short projects with bold, thematic titles.
